Ramon's Village is a beach side island paradise on
Ambergris Caye, about 35 miles from Belize City. Access to Ambergris
Caye is made easy by Tropic Air, Island Air or Maya Airways, with flights
about every 30 minutes during daylight hours. Flight time is approximately
15 minutes.
The moment you land on Ambergris you sense that the mad rush of modern civilization is far behind. The only streets are sand and nothing is higher than a palm tree. From the airstrip you could walk the short distance down the street to the gateway entrance of Ramon's Village, but there is a hotel golf cart (the standard vehicle on the island) ready to escort you and your baggage off to the reception center. Minutes later you are in your own beach side cabana ready to slip into shorts or a swimsuit. The focal point of the resort is a large wooden deck which surrounds the freshwater pool, and joins the Restaurant, Purple Parrot lounge, and Gift Shop. You can sunbathe at pool side, or enjoy the shade of coconut palms and thatch roofed Palapas' overlooking the pristine waters of the Caribbean. The Restaurant at Ramon's serves (3) meals a day offering the finest in local seafoods, Chinese, and Cajun Entrees. You have the option of dining inside in a 52 seat dining room, featuring exquisite hand carved Mahogany panels which tell the story of the Mayan's gathering and the preparation of food, or enjoy a meal outside on the veranda with its fresh sea breeze and spectacular view. The Purple Parrot is an open air bar overlooking the pool deck and beach. Open from 9:00 am through midnight it provides a gathering place and is a source of entertainment for guests of the hotel. It is the home of the resorts only television where you can witness major news and sports events or enjoy a video of your days diving activities. Drink specialties include the house drink, a Purple Parrot Passion and frozen drinks of any kind. Right next door is the Gift Shop, open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. Plentifully stocked with beach wear and accessories, it also offers the finest local handicrafts, including wood carvings, black coral and silver jewelry. Ramon's is a convenient (5) minute walk along the beach, from the Village of San Pedro and its 2500 inhabitants. There are numerous shops, bars and restaurants throughout the village and usually a local athletic competition or cultural event can be witnessed at the Village Park. For your on site entertainment, Ramon's Village offers a Tuesday and Friday Night Bar B Que. with pool side dining and live entertainment from 6:00- 10:00 pm. Sunday mornings are made special with breakfast on the Veranda, while enjoying the music of classical Latin guitarist Renee'. There is a number of daytime activities
from which to choose. Only 1/2 mile offshore lies the worlds second
largest barrier reef. Approximately 186 miles in length, it provides
some of the best scuba diving in the world. A state of the art dive
boat, the "Miss Gina", offers daily trips to two of the
Northern Hemispheres (4) living Atolls; Turneffe and Lighthouse (home
of the world famous Blue Hole). The shallow waters between the Barrier
Reef and Ambergris shoreline offer several world class snorkeling
sites and prevailing trade winds also make this area excellent for
sailing and wind surfing, all available on the Ramon's pier. Fisherman
can choose between big game fish outside the reef and fly fishing
in the flats behind the Caye. Catch and release is of course encouraged.
