PAPUA NEW GUINEA WEATHER Papua New Guinea’s climate is tropical. Temperature varies between the lowlands and the highlands. In the lowlands, its maximum temperature can be in between 86° and 90° F (30° and 32° C), and the minimums are between 73° and 75° F (23° and 24° C). In the Highlands, where it is cooler, average daytime temperature is 72 F (22 C) or higher. Rainfall, and not temperature, is the determinant of the season. May to October are the driest months. December to March is the wet season, when the country experiences its heaviest rainfall. However, there will be occasional rainfall throughout the year.
