LISSENUNG
ISLAND REEF
6-33 ft
This reef borders 2/3 of the island and is a great spot for photography
and night diving. Likely encounters include seahorses, six species of
clownfish, crocodile fish, cockatoo waspfish, twin-spot gobies, blacktip
reef sharks, turtles, a wide variety of shrimp, and so much more!
ECHUCA
PATCH
40-103 ft
Next to an impressive ridge rising from the ocean bottom, you'll find
the 'Der Yang', a Korean fishing boat at about 103 ft. The 'Der Yang'
was sunk in 1984 to make an artificial reef and slipped to her current
depth following a storm in 1997. Frequent visitors include jacks, barracudas,
white & grey reef sharks, spanish mackerel, dogtooth tuna, turtles,
and occasional eagle rays.
ALBATROSS
PASSAGE
33-99 ft
On an incoming tide, this narrow passage is populated with eagle rays,
mobula rays, dogtooth tuna, barracudas, whitetip, silvertip & grey
reef sharks and lots of other fish. The wall bordering the passage is
covered with big fan corals, black corals, and sponges which provide cover
for leaf scorpionfish, pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, garden eels, clownfish
and more. All in all, this dive is a must!
THE
BOTTLESHOP
3-53 ft
An eclectic collection of old bottles, cans, and tires scattered around
the pylons of a slipway in the Kavieng Harbor has turned into the best
muck dive in the area! Attracted to the spot are such wonderful critters
as ghost pipefish, demon stingers, seahorses, nudibranchs, allied cowries,
mantis shrimp, octopus, lionfish, scorpion fish, juvenile harlequin sweetlips,
clownfish and banded sea snakes.

REEF
25-150 ft
This 300' wide patch reef located in the middle of Steffen Strait is covered
with hard corals and big fans. Swarming the area during an incoming tide
are fusiliers, redtooth triggerfish, dogtooth tuna, mackerels, barracuda,
trevally, grey & whitetip reef sharks, and more.

PATCH
23-115 ft
This patch of reef boasts beautiful corals and nudibranchs and on an incoming
tide is teeming with oceanic triggerfish, rainbow runners, tuna, jacks,
sharks, barracudas & schools of batfish.

MATRIX
7-115 ft
This beautiful drift dive features gorgeous hard corals and huge fan corals,
as well as mobula rays, turtles, sea snakes, and sharks.

ISLAND
17-50 ft
Explore the beautiful coral garden or the sand and sea grass area of this
dive site. You may spot bumphead parrotfish, clownfish, whitetip reef
sharks, fusiliers, seahorses, frogfish, eels, crabs, nudibranchs, flatworms
or ghost pipefish.

A wall-like reef covered in soft corals, sponges, & fans attracts
schooling jacks & barracuda, sharks, eagle rays, turtles, scorpion
fish, and redtooth triggerfish.
