Excellent restaurants can be found throughout Costa Rica. The following restaurants are concentrated around the diving hotspots of the Pacific Northwest Coast:

BAR LAS BRISAS
This beach bar overlooking Playa Potrero is the perfect spot for beer and fish tacos. Take in the view and enjoy the kick-back ambiance. Enjoy reggae on Monday nights and karaoke on Wednesdays.

CAFÉ DE PLAYA
For a chic, elegant option try this international fusion restaurant located right on the beach in Playa del Coco. Italian and Asian influence makes for interesting dishes like Tuna Carpaccio with an Asian soy sauce or Thai Salad with Beef Carpaccio. Delicious seafood pastas and a sushi menu are also offered. Excellent wine list. Reservations recommended.

TEQUILA BAR & GRILL
As you may have already guessed, some of the best margaritas around can be found here, one and a half blocks from the beach in Playa del Coco. In fact, they’ve got 20 different varieties to choose from. Tasty, authentic Mexican food is also on the menu. May we recommend the fajitas? Closed on Wednesdays.

MAR Y SOL
This romantic terrace restaurant, perched on a hillside overlooking Playa Flamingo, is truly elegant. Torch lighting adds to the atmosphere while a French menu tempts the palate. Highlights include a surf-and-turf combo featuring filet mignon and either lobster tail or jumbo shrimp, a delicious bouillabaisse and Chateaubriand for two. Reservations recommended.

DRAGONFLY BAR & GRILL
This hip, immensely popular restaurant is situated under a large tent with tree trunk poles and simple, stylish accents. The eclectic, gourmet menu features such offerings as Creamy Mushroom Risotto and Corn crusted Mahi Mahi. Top your meal off with Warm Apple Crisp or a creamy nightcap from the bar. Reservations essential. Located in Tamarindo.

GIARDINO TROPICALE
This open-air restaurant surrounded by lush gardens is known for its wood-fired pizzas and rich pasta dishes, but trust us, order up two appetizers first…the brick oven baked Focaccia and the Garpacio (ceviche) will wow you. This spot is not known for fast service, so just order wine, relax and enjoy. Located in Nosara.

ROCA BRUJA
Ocotal Beach Resort’s main restaurant sits atop a cliff and boasts a 270 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. The large-open air dining room opens onto a deck with more seating. International cuisine.
